Sounds like the smartest campaign of the year is here! You might remember this VW spot starring little Darth Vader from a while ago which just won a Gold “Film” Lion in Cannes. Now Greenpeace has attacked Volkswagen’s environmental credentials with a spoof of its recent Darth Vader ad campaign. See for yourself below.
VW: The Dark Side
What’s interesting here ist the fact that Lucasfilms has given VW the rights to use it’s character for it’s campaign and now they turn around to let Greenpeace do a spoof with the very same character.
And it’s a pretty smart concept with videos going viral right away (how can anyone resist the charm of those kids in their silly costumes?) and a social web game that lets you become a jedi knight fighting the evildoers. This sounds like a tough week for the PR department in Wolfsburg.
This is what Greenpeace has to say:”Volkswagen opposes key European laws that we need if we’re going to save our planet from climate change. All is not lost. We feel the good in Volkswagen. Help us turn VW away from the Dark Side.”
